Why We’re Taking the Plunge Into Renovation
After five years of living in our house, it’s finally renovation time! As a home improvement enthusiast, renovating can feel like a daunting but thrilling challenge. It’s hard to believe that after adding a pool and completely revamping our kitchen, we’re now gearing up for our biggest project yet: removing walls to create an open concept that’s connected both to our living space and our beautiful pool.
Lessons from Five Years of Living Here
The last five years have taught us a lot about our home. Initially, we thought adding a second bathroom was a top priority, but it turns out our son needs a bigger room now that he’s getting older. Plus, we realized how much we wanted an open view of the pool from our living area—something that didn’t seem important until we settled into our daily life.
Making Space with Smart Design
Our renovation plans include finishing a covered portion of our front porch, transforming it into a spacious new room. By doing this, we not only create a bigger bedroom for our son, but we also open up the house to better connect our indoor and outdoor spaces. This design choice is savvy, allowing us to utilize existing space effectively while keeping most of our outdoor areas unchanged.
Building on Inspiration from Other Homeowners
Homeowners around the country have proven that thoughtful renovations amplify the value and enjoyment of a space. For example, Worthington Design & Remodeling highlights that creating open floor plans is one of the best ways to enhance a home’s functionality and aesthetic. Our project aligns with this trend, aiming to integrate our kitchen and outdoor pool area seamlessly, allowing us to socialize and connect with nature simultaneously.
